Match the rules first

The table assumes a dealer blackjack check. It does not cover European no-hole-card games, side bets or special bonus variants.

What changes with one deck?

Some plays differ from the multi-deck chart. For S17 with doubling allowed, hard 8 doubles against 5 or 6. Hard 9 doubles against 2 through 6. Use the pair table before the hard-total table.

Pairs change too. With one deck and S17, 7,7 against a dealer 10 is Rs: surrender if available, otherwise stand, where the 4–8 deck chart hits.

Check the table rules

These charts assume a standard US hole-card game with a blackjack check. Double after split and late surrender are selectable. Restricted doubling, no-hole-card games and bonus variants need a different analysis.

Single-deck tables often pay 6:5 on a natural instead of 3:2. That changes the price of the game, not the decisions in this chart; compare the two on the blackjack payout chart.

Total-dependent reference

The chart groups hands by total. Exact card composition can create additional single-deck exceptions. It is not a composition-dependent expected-value solver.
