What is the basic-strategy action?
Splitting requires an eligible pair.
Learn one rule set at a time
Start with the chart’s default 4–8 deck S17 rules. Keep the rules visible throughout your session. Practice has no stakes, bankroll or cash prizes.
Understand each answer
After choosing an action, see the correct table cell and a short explanation. Review missed hands after the session and return to the matching blackjack chart.
How practice is scored
Each initial hand counts once. A correct first answer earns one point. Changing settings starts a new session after confirmation; refreshing does not restore a session unless local storage is available.
Only legal actions are offered. Split appears only for a pair, and Surrender only when the selected rules allow late surrender. An available action can still be the wrong one.
How to memorize a blackjack chart
Learn one rule set in small groups: hard totals first, then soft hands and pairs. Read a row, cover the chart, and explain the decision before checking it. Treat the fallback as part of the answer, especially for doubles and surrender.
Use a ten-hand session as recall practice, then review each missed hand against the basic strategy chart. Repeat the troublesome hand groups rather than switching rules after every attempt. A score measures that session’s answers, not readiness for every casino rule set.
